We're best known for our small-batch, traditional roasting methods. From pan to drum roasting we're able to be more attentive and hands-on than the average coffee roaster so we can extract all the unique aromas, flavors and textures. We draw upon family recipes indigenous to the Horn of African and the Caribbean, bringing a sense of cultural richness, authenticity and history to your cup.
All of this translates into a richer, more flavorful cup of coffee and more intentional experience with each sip.

We believe that coffee is both a very personal and communal ritual. It's an everyday practice of indigenous coffee communities around the world that anyone can learn from, appreciate and experience themselves to enrich their own relationship with coffee.
We hope to transform the coffee-drinking experience into restorative, rejuvenating moments of calm to soothe your busy life.

single-origin, handpicked.
Locally, we source Yirgacheffe coffee beans from the rolling hills of southwestern Ethiopia (the "Crown & Glory" of the region) with our neighbors at Abyssinia Specialty Coffee (an Ethiopian distributor in Springfield, VA). Hand-picked—harvested and sorted at the place of origin—each batch is wet-processed to improve acidity and enhance clean floral notes.
We also partner with GreenPod/Guide Roasting Co. (a local coffee producer and packer in Midlothian, VA) to source a range of specialty coffee beans from growers in Central and South America.

Michael J.A. Davis (Founder & Head Roaster) is an award-winning designer, creative director and coffee roaster from Northern Virginia. His professional work is grounded in a commitment to the life, love, and liberation of everyday Black people and communities that have been made vulnerable by systems of inequity.
After 15 years in corporate America, Michael founded Tinycup Coffee in 2023. Its aim to enrich the coffee-drinking experience is rooted in a desire to preserve and elevate the traditions and stories of indigenous coffee communities around the globe.
