The Adeni Roast

Aan Caadi Ahayn - የማይነፃፀር ፣ ልዩ

The Adeni Roast is a classic spicy, aromatic experience that pays special tribute to the Horn of Africa, honoring coffee's origin and celebrating communal traditions.

We've put years into mastering this perfect union of Ethiopian coffee roasting techniques with the signature spices of Somali tea (shaah cadays). Every cup brings home the warmth of a culture that values community and hospitality.

From the moment you unbox your personal batch of coffee, you'll experience the full-on sensory joy of carefully pan-roasted Ethiopian Arabica beans packed with fresh cassia cinnamon, organic cardamom, dried ginger root, and cloves.

Ingredients

Arabica coffee beans, cassia cinnamon, organic cardamom, dried ginger root, cloves

Cupping Notes

"This cup is soft and fragrant and has a distinctive flavor that is both exotic and classic. This coffee is produced in the region of Yirga Cheffe, one of the most distinguished regions of Africa. This Ethiopian coffee is wet-processed to improve its acidity and enhance its clean floral notes, giving it a medium intensity of spice and herb flavors.

"This is why we are very confident that when you buy freshly roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee you will be treating yourself to one of the most distinctive coffees."

These notes are provided from our supplier Abyssinia Specialty Coffee

Grind Size

Whole Bean:
For the freshest experience each time, grind just before brewing to release the full flavor and aroma. Perfect for coffee enthusiasts who enjoy customizing their grind size.

Ground (Standard):
Our standard grind is suitable for drip coffee makers and pour-over brewers. Medium grounds provide a balanced extraction for a smooth, well-rounded taste.

Ground for French Press*:
A coarser grind ideal for French Press brewing. This allows for a full-bodied, bold, and flavorful cup without the risk of over-extraction.

*Do you offer Espresso grind for The Adeni Roast?

We don't recommend using The Adeni Roast as an Espresso. As water is forced through the grounds (and spices) at high pressure and speed in a confined chamber, it will not only extract delicious coffee, it will also extract the spices in this roast too. This typically esults in a more intense spice flavor most customers prefer in The Adeni Roast.

For the best results, we recommend just about any other brewing method. Click on the 'Brew & Serve' tab below this one for an illustrated view of our brewing recommendations.

*Why do we charge $2 for French Press?

We're aware there's a spectrum of approaches by coffee companies—some offer a range of grind options at no cost and some don't offer the option at all. At Tinycup, our priority is to deliver a restful coffee experience tailored to your specific preferences.

We view a French Press grind as a customization that requires extra care and precision to ensure optimal extraction for these unique brewing methods.

It would seem easier to customize an order for a roaster dedicated to small-batch roasting. In our current stage of growth, processing a custom grind order involves some additional steps to separate a single order of beans from their batch and adjust our grinding process for them accordingly.

Still, this customization (though it may be a little less efficient) demonstrates our commitment to providing you with a coffee that matches your preferences and exceeds your expectations!

That said, the extra charge is a reflection of our pride in offering this level of personalization, attention to detail, and the care we put into each and every order.

Brewing & Serving

Care & Reuse

For peak freshness, the best way to keep ground coffee or whole beans fresh is to store it in an airtight container. Even better, away from light, heat and moisture …like on a pantry shelf.

Oh! And that cute little burlap sack your coffee arrived in is so worth keeping, repurposing, re-gifting or upcycling ♻️. Keep it green!

***Note: Some spices in The Adeni Roast expand with heat and may clog the pours of a portafilter, making for a less than desired pull. See brewing recommendations on tag.

our tinycup is a 6 oz. cup of coffee

Why, you ask? Well, in American coffee culture, serving sizes often assume 8 oz. equals "one cup" of coffee. But we like the more universal standard for coffee, which is 6 oz. mug-served coffee. The reasons are simple but important...

  • (1) Mindful Consumption

The 6 oz. standard promotes thoughtful, more intentional moments of coffee savoring.

  • (2) Ideal Strength & Flavor

Smaller servings maintain a balance of coffee strength and richer flavor without dilution.

  • (3) Consistent Experience

Adhering to the 6 oz. standard makes for a more consistent experience with each cup you make.

  • (4) Enhanced Aroma

Smaller quantities help to preserve the aromatic qualities of the coffee for longer.

A Whole Peaceful Experience

So, I’m more of a sprinkle of coffee with my creamer type of girl. But when I saw this brand launch and the option to purchase coffee grounds sourced from Ethiopia I jumped at the chance to try something new for me. Coffee has always been too acidic and hard on my sensitive stomach. Store bought brands can’t compare to the freshness! Getting the chance to enjoy a flavorful roast that didn’t make me regret it was a treat!. The spiciness took some getting used to at first but it HIT DIFFERENT when I took the owners packaged suggest to coat the bottom of the cup with organic maple syrup. WHAT?! I am a believer now that coffee is a whole experience and Tiny Cup Adeni became a part of my daily morning and sometimes evening routine as a journaling companion. Thank you Tiny Cup Coffee, I’ll be back! For those on the fence, dive in and support this wonderful small business that is truly dedicated to a personalized customer experience.

Love The Adeni

If you never had coffee the Arabic way, this is the one to try. I've had it black, no sugar and enjoyed it. The spices in the roast are distinct. As I'm writing this, I'm having a cup of The Adeni with warmed maple syrup at the bottom. This was suggested to me by Michael himself, and it did not disappoint.

I've come to associate Tinycup with intentionality. I make time to make this coffee and it's worth it every time. Enjoy some rest with The Adeni. This is Sunday morning in a cup.

Absolutely Wonderful!

I have to admit that I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and totally spoiled by a husband who serves me fresh brewed coffee every morning in what we've named our "inspiration room." I'm delighted to say that after the very first taste, the Adeni roast surpassed all of our other favorite coffee blends. We now look forward to the complete Adeni experience, and yes, that includes even more inspiration. It puts the magic in my morning!.
